Sarcastic tone
In the present study, we analyzed the sarcastic tone of Amazon reviews to identify which products receive positive reviews and which receive negative ones. We evaluated 5000 reviews and classified them as "Sarcastic," or "Nonsarcastic". We then divided the reviews into five different categories based on their sarcastic tone. The results show that reviews of products with sarcastic tone are less likely to be positive than those with a neutral tone.
Two-star reviews are the most reliable and show the classifier's best performance. Reviewers with a 2-star rating were the most accurate and reliable. We used the same data set to determine sarcastic tone in the next study. However, we also selected reviews that were less positive. We found that 2-star reviews have a more sarcastic tone to them than other reviews.
